In addition to providing the on-set performance of Dennis the Wolf, Paul also built the proxy puppet head to Weta FX’s specifications.

For Sweet Tooth, Paul led the performance of Bobby, a gopher-boy hybrid, which was achieved through a mixture of animatronics and VFX enhancement.

On Season 1, up to six puppeteers were sometimes required. However, for Season 2 Paul was able to work with Fractured FX, which designed and built the Bobby puppets, to refine the puppets and whittle the number of puppeteers down to three: two performed his physical actions and the third operated his radio-controlled expressions. This economy was especially necessary for the walking rig, where Paul was able to fully control his physical actions by himself on sets where space was sometimes at a premium.

In addition to Bobby, Paul and the rest of the puppeteering teams who worked on all three seasons had numerous other characters to perform, providing anything from ear, tail and wing movements to hand puppet stand-ins and fully expressive animatronic heads.

Paul was hired not only to design and build the various versions of the Jenny Pen puppet required for The Rule of Jenny Pen, but also to coach John Lithgow in puppeteering, as well as to perform additional puppetry for certain sequences.
